How Do You Keep Up With Homework Assignments?

Paperwork. (slight shudder)

The common classroom weed.

It never fails- just as you think you've finally conquered the never ending piles of paper around your room, you glance over to the corner and see that another pile has already started growing.

The worst culprit is homework. Having a good system in place for keeping up with homework assignments is essential to a having a happy classroom.

If you're one of the lucky ones that have found a solution to this problem, we'd love it if you'd share.

Oh, pretty please?!

Thanks!!

So what works for you? How do you keep up with homework assignments in your classroom?

  1. I do Weekly Homework Packets. I had out homework out Friday afternoon. Students have one week to complete the packet and turn it in the following Friday Morning. The packets are filled with spelling word practice, math fact practice and whatever else we are working on. I try to keep my packets at 4-5 pages of work so that the work equals one page per night. but its the students choice when they want to complete it as long as I get it Friday morning. Also in their homework packets I include their weekly reading log so they can track their reading over the weekend and during the week. This opens up the option if a students dose not finish classwork I can send it home to be finished that night as homework without feeling like I am swamping the student with nightly work. Overall this is the best method that works for me.
