The Amazon Teacher: December 2013

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

I'm sure this teacher's class liked reading this sweet Christmas story. Love! Check out this other list of great Christmas picture books.

Let's hope some lucky teacher is getting this little piece of plastic in their stocking this year :) ...or at least that one teacher out there was able to save a little bit of time with their Christmas shopping by giving a loved one this simple and easy gift.

Fun! This is the one of my Teacher Recommended Toys ...and it's definitely at the top of the favorite's list. I love that it encourages kids to take simple objects (cardboard boxes) and use the wheels to create whatever their little imaginations can come up with.

These look nifty! Just record instructions for centers or stations in your room on each button and students can press them to hear what to do. Rear more ideas for using these buttons in your classroom.

Thanks to all of those who used YTA's Amazon link this month! I am humbled that you took the time to help me out and greatly appreciate each and every click!

The Amazon Teacher: October 2013

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

WARNING: If you buy this book, you will most likely drop whatever you are doing and devour the ideas in it...all afternoon! You will also most likely get absolutely nothing on your to-do list accomplished because you can't stop turning the pages. These tips are so simple, so easy, and so useful! (AND so addictive!)

Awww- I love this book. It's precious (she says with a slight Southern accent). It's a great book to read to address the issue of bullying and making fun of other students.

MONSTER FEET ALERT! This is the first Teacher Recommended Toy that I've seen purchased through my Amazon link and I'm so excited to think that some little someone is going to have a blast stomping around on these this Christmas! I was also relieved to see that this person purchased just one...so he or she will not have a classroom full of yelling, clomping 5 year olds to deal with! :)

Haven't seen the Teacher Recommended Toy list yet? You've got to check it out!

How cool would this light be in a low-lit classroom?! I can see the kids sitting excitedly in a circle around it while a teacher tells them a campfire story about Columbus or the Battle of Yorktown. Add a flashlight and a few silly sound effects in and you the making of a super-simple, yet engaging lesson! (Ooo- and don't forget to pass out marshmallows- gotta have the s'mores, people!)

The Amazon Teacher: September 2013

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

Yay! One of my favorite things was an Amazon purchase this month! These simple little plastic 'credit cards' have a TON of fun uses in your classroom. I shared a few ways that I used them here.

Double Woot! Here's another one of my favorite things! It's not a secret how very much I l.o.v.e. floor tape. I am tickled pink that someone else is getting to experience the floor tape joy, thanks to Amazon, of course! Check out this post on a few of the awesome-sauce things you can do with it. (Ooo- and don't forget to scroll down to the comments. My smarty-pants readers have shared a bunch of great ways that they use it in their room too!)

Okay, this is starting to get a little creepy....because here is yet ANOTHER Amazon purchase that is on my  favorite things list. Hmmm.....I'm starting to think I should have added some things like 'Gift Card sent to Kaitlin's House' on that list. ;)

The Essential 55 by Ron Clark is a great book that, at the very least, will make you get that 'I could be a super teacher too' feeling back. This is the book that inspired me to start the R.A.K Club (Random Acts of Kindness Club) in my classroom. Read more about our R.A.K Club here.

Seriously, people! Another favorite thing? Well, at least I know my taste in classroom supplies is spot on. Now my fashion sense....well, that's another story. This favorite thing- dry erase wall decals- are now in some lucky teacher's room. Do you think he or she might use them with any of these ideas?

The Amazon Teacher: August 2013

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

I can SO relate to the teacher who bought this book for his or her room! Not that I ever had any students (that I know of) put pencils up their nose, but I have seen that the same blank-eyed-stare look on one or two of my students. It would have been great to have this book available for them to read.

Here's a simple, hassle-free way to slip a quick grammar lesson into your daily schedule. We used to give a sheet similar to this as their 'morning work.' They would compete this after they arrive and get unpacked. Amazon has one for each grade level.

What would this teacher have done without her laminator?! I laminated everything...my team would even joke that I probably laminated the pile of bus notes that came in. (Just for the record: that never happened. Really.) I imagine that this laminator was purchased by a teacher who has recently become a stay-at-home mom and is having laminator-withdrawal. I can so relate.
  • 13" Laminating Width
  • Uniform, Bubble-Free Laminating
  • AC Geared Motor with 15"/min Laminating Speed
  • Heated Roller System
  • Sleek Compact Design

Lots of new bulletin boards going up this month! Here's a quick tip for all you bulletin board junkies: Use fabric as your backdrop. Yup. Very little fading + No holes = Low maintenance and reusable!

This little cutie has me thinking that a ladybug themed bedroom might just have to be in my daughter's near future!
  • Hand painted wooden crate with wire handles
  • Plastic liners included
  • Each crate measures:3"H X 5"W X 2 1/2"D

The Amazon Teacher: July

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

I was one of those children who LIVED in the library, so when I had a teacher who stocked quality books right in his or her room, I was in heaven. Somewhere across the country, some other tiny bookworm is going to jump for joy when these books hit the shelves of their classroom:

(Btw- I love the concept behind these 'As told by the other side of the story' books! So creative!)

Kuddos to these teachers for purchasing books that will help them create successful classrooms. The best teachers are the ones who are always looking for way to improve! Just a note: The Daily 5 is an excellent book!

This classroom is going Monkey-Style! See more great monkey classroom theme ideas here.

Oh, the possibilities are endless for all the great things you could do with this in your classroom. Just imagine a whole wall of shelves and super cute baskets to store random whozits and whatzits galore.

(Disney fans, did you catch the Little Mermaid reference? 'Shout out' to my sister- she wanted to be Ariel when she grew up. She's almost there...you know, minus the fin, red hair, shell bra, and a dad who's king of pretty much everything.)

It was great to see one of my favorite things being purchased by teachers this month. In June, I told you how floor tape could change your life. .....Dramatic? Yes. .....Overstatement? No.

Trust me.

The Amazon Teacher: June

I am blessed to have many wonderful readers who support this site by using our Amazon link before they shop. Since a majority of them are in the teaching profession, I try to highlight a few of the fun classroom gadgets they purchased from Amazon each month. You never know- it might be just the thing you've been looking for in your room!

Owls were hot in June! Classrooms are getting cuter by the minute in someone's room- check out these great owl-themed items that were purchased this month:

This teacher's classroom library just got a little bigger with this exciting young adult series from Margaret Peterson Haddix called The Shadow Children. Recommended for ages 8 and up. I've actually read the first few books in this series and enjoyed them even as an adult. They are written a little 'young' for me, but I imagine that they would really capture the interest of a middle-schooler.

The Shadow Children Series:

I hadn't heard about these Hot Dot cards before, but they look like a fantastic tool to use. They have them for division, subtraction, addition and multiplication.
I would have died to have one of these in my room! Do you know how many tiny little things I could have corralled with these drawers?

Owl Necklace Amazon Deal- $0.83 (reg. $39!)

QUICK UPDATE: Before we get to the post, I'd like to ask you to do a quick favor for me. I recently decided to take the plunge and put this blog on Facebook and Twitter...which is completely nerve racking for a social media novice like myself (my Facebook-addicted husband was so proud though, you guys!). If you could take just a moment and like my page or follow my twitter account, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Wow! I usually only post deals related to classroom products, but this one was too good to pass up!

This deal is for all you teachers who love your owl-themed classrooms. Why not give yourself a little 'owl bling' as well?

Amazon is offering this cute little necklace- regularly priced at $34.99- for a whopping 83 cents!

(Check that again- you didn't read it wrong. 83 cents.)

And it get's even better. Shipping is my favorite 4-letter word: FREE!

FREE people!

** I must warn you that through my Amazon deal hunting I have learned three things:

1. Sometimes the 'regular price' on Amazon is a highly inflated number...but in this case, even if the necklace cost half of that price, it's only 83 cents. 83 cents.

2. Extremely low prices are sometimes a computer error and Amazon will send you a nice little email saying that they are refunding your money instead of shipping the product. Doesn't happen often, but it is a possibility.

3. These super deals don't last long, so if you want it, I'd jump on it!
