This summer, we are being intentional about spending just a little bit of time doing some things that can make a big impact on our classroom. Join us as we try to create a stress-free school year! Did you miss the first part of this series? Check it out Let's Get Started and Goal #1, Goal #2.
So far
we’ve enlisted our student’s help getting organized and decluttered our room
slowly, but surely.
This week, we’re going to Plan to Plan.
Here’s what I mean: You are going to be planning out a general calendar for your whole year
this summer, as well as lessons for the
first three weeks of school.
Wait! Don’t freak out on me yet (and yes, I saw those eyes
rolling when I said ‘whole year.’) Just stick with me. It’s not as hard as it
sounds.
At the beginning of July, I will be helping you plan out your
entire year and create a more detailed plan for the first three weeks of
school. In order to do this, your challenge this week is:
Make a list of the
items you will need to complete this planning and set them aside to bring home
on the last day of school.
Let me help get the ball rolling. You will need the
following items:
- Teacher Guides for textbooks or
curriculum
- One copy of each student workbook
and textbook you give out.
- Your lesson plan book or a USB
with your lesson template on it.
- Your upcoming school year calendar
(this could be online as well).
- A blank copy of a calendar for the
upcoming year (or a copy of the school calendar they gave you if there is room
on it to write topics on each day).
- Your district’s Scope &
Sequence or pacing guide (so you will know what you are supposed to be teaching
and for how long)
- Any resources you know you will be
using the first month of school (so we can plan out those first few weeks).
See? That part wasn’t so hard! Pick a place in your house to
keep these items so that your sun-and-beach-fuzzed brain can remember where to
get them in a few weeks ;)
I’ll see you in a few weeks when we start to plan, plan,
plan. Until then, Enjoy your first few weeks of vacation!
